Leipzig in 1989 – Germany divided into East and West. The twelve-year-old friends Fritzi and Sophie don't care much about this - until Sophie has to flee to the West with her mother. There she struggles with prejudices against 'those from over there', but above all with her homesickness. Fritzi's attempt to at least bring Sophie her dog Sputnik fails because of the heavily guarded border. Fritzi realizes that only the fight for freedom in her country can bring the two of them together again.

Sophie is a Canadian television sitcom that aired on CBC from January 9, 2008 to March 23, 2009.It stars Natalie Brown as Sophie Parker, an unmarried single mother and talent agent. The show is an English-language adaptation of Télévision de Radio-Canada's show Les Hauts et les bas de Sophie Paquin.The show was created by Richard Blaimert and its executive producer is Jocelyn Deschênes, the same creative team behind the original series. It was the CBC's second attempt in as many years to create an English adaptation of a successful series from its French sister network, following the less successful Rumours.In February 2008, it was announced that the show had been bought by ABC Family, part of Disney-ABC Television Group in the United States. The network signed on for the first 13 episodes, as well as an option for the second season of the show.On March 27, 2009, the series was cancelled by CBC due to poor ratings.

Typisch Sophie is a German television series.

Growing up at a zoo, young ballet dancer Sophie always loved animals - but none as much as her pet elephant Sheba. When her parents are forced to sell Sheba to a travelling circus, Sophie has no choice but to runaway and join him on the road to get him back.

Three more years, then she will be 40: Sophie is slowly getting scared. Actually, she should be happy and have everything under control: three growing children, a small catering agency, a large farmhouse and a husband, Hubertus, who is reasonably successful professionally. But somehow life has lost its tension. It will wrinkle like an old apple, worse: like herself.
